I am currently designing a thesis project using aphids of the genus Tamalia at the Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve. I am fascinated by the process of sex allocation in different species, in particular those who exhibit both sexual and asexual reproduction.

In Dr. Schierenbeck’s lab I worked on a project studying gene flow between native and cultivar tree species of the genus Platanus. My job involved rigorous plant sample collection, DNA extractions, PCR, and electrophoresis, as well as managing large data logs for our samples.
